VBS.TV

"VBS is an online broadcast network. We stream original content, free of charge and 24 hours a day. We carry a mix of domestic and international news, pop and underground culture coverage, and the best music in the world. People have used words like eclectic, smart, funny, shocking, and revolutionary to describe VBS, but we kind of just snapped our fingers in their faces and went, “Whatever. Tell us something we don’t know.”" -- pretty cool documentaries. -- click here to view

Citizen Space - Co-working workspace

"The idea of Citizen Space is to take the best elements of a coffee shop (social, energetic, creative) and the best elements of a workspace (productive, functional) and combine them to give indie workers the chance to have their own, affordable space. Citizen Space was built on coworking philosophy."

"Day-tripping and casual guests can visit for free and if you want to leave your stuff, we rent out desks for $350/month. We also hold various events at our space and are happy to consider making our facilities available for event hosting."

Opening hours are a bit awkward (I want to start working at 6am, but they only open at 10am), but I would love to see something like that popping up in Belgium (maybe it's here already, but don't know about it yet? Or maybe I should just relocate anyway :)

Project C-90 | Huge Cassette Tape Collection

The C-90 website is dedicated to cassette tapes. Here you won't find any kind of scientific research, technical data or things like that. The authors' only message is just to give a visitor something interesting to look at. The era of this particular medium is slowly passing, and here we are trying to turn back time for 60 minutes, or, maybe, for 90... -- click here to view

iTunes Library Updater

"As iTunes doesn’t provide a function to update / synchronize your music collection with it’s own database, I’ve written a small utility for that purpose. Well, you may use ‘Consolidate Library’ of iTunes, but this is a typical Mac’ish behaviour letting one application control almost your whole life. I don’t like that too much, so better let my app control your life… :)

I recommend to backup your iTunes database (’iTunes Music Library.itl’ and ‘iTunes Music Library.xml’), just to be on the safe side." -- click here to view

Denemo - Open-Source Music Notation Software

Denemo is a music notation program for Linux and Windows that lets you rapidly enter notation for typesetting via the LilyPond music engraver. Music can be typed in at the PC-Keyboard, or played into a microphone plugged into your computer's soundcard.

Denemo itself does not engrave the music - it uses LilyPond which generates beautiful sheet music to the highest publishing standards. Denemo just displays the music so you can enter and edit the music efficiently. -- click here to view

Digital Music: Trent Reznor is showing show business how it's done digitally

"Trent Reznor is busy demonstrating how a bankable artist can go independent, give away music for free, and still make a mint. Though he initially expressed concern over an album he produced for hip-hopper Saul Williams that was released as a "pay what you will" download, he's changed his mind and now considers it a success — mostly because Williams made more money even with only twenty percent of fans paying for the album than he ever did at a label. And maybe more importantly, far more people heard the music. As for Reznor? His own giveaway of his latest album did pretty well in the marketplace as well, with a limited-edition box set garnering $750,000 and half a million CDs sold. So what, exactly, is the problem with the music business? As usual, greedy labels." -- read the rest of the article by clicking the link. -- click here to view

ATV4Windows

"PatchStick is a USB software that when installed on to a USB thumbdrive that you own will Modify the AppleTV Take2 Firmware to install new Plugin's, Patch's, Upgrade's to your AppleTV/ No modifying of the AppleTV is needed. The software will do everything for you! Only takes 5 min to put on to anythumbdrive and 5 min to install! Also it will not void your warranty!" -- Quite amazingly, I never knew people were hacking the Apple TV. Apparently, this update allows you to play DIVX, AVI, MP4 files so this might become the ultimate Media Center for me. You have to become a member though, which costs you $15 for a whole year. Quite cheap, so definitely an option. -- click here to view

Console - A windows command prompt replacement

"Console is a Windows console window enhancement. Console features include: multiple tabs, text editor-like text selection, different background types, alpha and color-key transparency, configurable font, different window styles" -- While searching a better command prompt I found quite a couple of software, but the first (PowerCMD) I tested didn't work properly with OpenSSH for windows (top was not outputting in place, but scrolled text in the window constantly). Then I came accross this little open-source package: Console2. Works great, has transparancy, and works perfectly. Combined with OpenSSH4W this is the ultimate Putty replacement. Love it! -- click here to view
